The road

is sometimes

        smooth

    textured

wet

            slippery

tears of

                joy

desperation

            inspiration

at a crossroads

            following one way

        an option

                    a journey

Nope, I did not stop making art

            just a break to

flow with the world

            to create with fabric

                    thread

             with my hands

    always my hands

all of me

a break, a breath

the studio is set up differently

        with a separate room

        built new

        clean, white

for resin coating

flowing paint

    fun

        joy

enjoyment

    very big

                            and really tiny

Canvas Gallery – new work available

Canvas Gallery, my longest standing gallery has just received 4 new pieces from me. They wrote a lovely post on their blog about it. Here are the images a bit larger:

11x48_Aspire
Aspire: 11" x 48"

Canvas 72x26-EtherealSpheres_72x26
"Ethereal Spheres"  size: 26" x 72"

30x30-source-1
"Source 1"  30" x 30"

30x30-source-2
"Source 2"  30" x30"

Source 1 & 2 can be combined into a diptych that can be displayed in different ways. I regard the viewer as the final component in the creation of my work, and I have been striving to create work that allows the viewer to partake in this process through a choice in displaying the work. My abstracts provide very different emotional responses depending on the direction that they are hung. They can also be changed around and provide an interactive play between the viewer and the piece.

Enjoy!

Completion

most of the works

        gone

left

            out in the world

travelers, seekers

            finders of their permanent

home.

The viewer, the purchaser

            the final piece

of completion in the

                process

                        of creating

Their thoughts

                    added

to my feelings

            mixed

changing my intent

                enhancing it

                distorting it

        understanding?

Their thoughts

            are what matters

        more?

Their thoughts

            their reaction

will make my seekers

                    be loved, accepted, wanted, acquired

To enable me to keep

my living

                        my creating

            in the flow.

When the end is here

            for me

                    some day

guaranteed

                    my pieces will continue

        to be

alive. here. bringing joy. existing. loved.

In 2009, there was some playing at the studio

Portrait-play-on-photo

Portrait-play-on-photo2

Old photographs, reworked with sandpaper, paints, fun, process. Inspiration for new direction of work, or simply having fun and nothing creatively is ever wasted. Everything leads to something. What–time will tell-or show-or sneakily insert into other pieces…. stay on your toes, you do not know what you might see.

Entry #4

Details have been added to some of the boats. This is the stage where things slow down. A lot. Each piece of work is studied, reflected upon, pondered about.

11x14-boat
11" x 14" Boat. Needs signature and resin coating. Title.

24x24-boat
24" x 24" piece. I added the dots just before leaving the studio. It will receive more attention tomorrow when I'm back at the studio. There are faint "pirate map" paths on the background. An element I like immensely.

Below, a sample of how the piece looks before painting the details.

24x24inprogress-boat-a
24" x 24" boat piece.
24x24inprogress-boat
Added swimmers and under-painting of plants.

Tomorrow I will finish this piece if it is ready for finishing. I let each tell me when it feels that it is finished.
